I have a certified letter that was sent to my job. The letter came, but my work is closed for a week so noone is there to sign for it. Can I still go pick up the letter without the slip from the post office if I have id?

How does the post office determine that the correct postage has been affixed?

When you mail a letter or package, how does the post office determine the weight, and then decide if the correct postage has been applied? Obviously, each letter and package cannot be manually examined due to the volume of mail. Machines must weigh the mail, but how does it decide that the stamps affixed meet or exceed the necessary amount, considering that they don’t have bar codes or other mechanical “readers”? Do they have machines that can “see” what each stamp looks like?

How long does it take to get hired? My friend applied for a Custodial/Janitor job at the Post Office and took some test and passed .. they sent him a letter saying hell be on 3 post offices list and will be on the list for 2 years… So my questions is how long should he expect to ge called?

Thank you for all those who answered. But some of you are getting USPS and UPS mixed up. This did not require a signature and it was small package. So it was not left outside.
